iOS 17.2: Introduces 15W wireless charging on iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 models
Apple plans to integrate "Qi2 charger support for all iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 models" with the update to iOS 17.2, as revealed by 9to5Mac and some users who reviewed the release notes of iOS 17.2 RC.
Qi2 charger support means that iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 will be able to harness up to 15W of wireless charging using Qi2-certified chargers. However, no details about the power specifications have been revealed.
Previously, the 15 W socket on these iPhone models was only possible with MagSafe chargers, while MagSafe-compatible chargers, which offered lower 7.5 W charging levels, were the alternative.

With Qi2 support, consumers will have more affordable options when it comes to 15W wireless chargers, as manufacturers will no longer be required to pay Apple for MagSafe certification.
The Qi2 standard was first introduced at CES 2023, featuring MagSafe-style wireless fast charging technology that is even compatible with Android devices.
The "Magnetic Power Profile" is used to ensure harmonious cooperation between phones and chargers. While current charging power is limited to 15 W, it is expected that charging levels above 15 W will increase significantly in the future, according to the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC).
