We present the 5 best navigation (GPS) apps for iPhone-iPad.

At the beginning the devices appeared GPS. Slowly at first, but more and more often you could see them in various cars helping drivers find their way, without having to stop and ask passers-by (if they found them). They were enriched with speech and voice navigation gps capability (talk and drive) and with traffic information and alternative routes and finally they are now integrated in many cars into the central entertainment system where once we only listened to music and now only roast coffee.

Smartphones were next to follow, with the first of course being the iPhone. At the beginning some foreign applications appeared, then the Greek MLS has brought out our familiar Talk 'n' Drive an iPhone version (unfortunately no longer available), meanwhile the Google Maps, but also the Maps (Maps) of the same iPhone, were upgraded to full gps navigation applications and since then the water has been put in the water and the scene has become much clearer.

So, today we present you 5 of the best gps navigation apps for iPhone (and iPad) and you can make your choices according to your needs.

1. Apple Maps (Maps)

The application Maps (Maps), needs - I believe - no special introduction. It comes pre-installed on every new iPhone iPad iPod, but also appears if we upgrade our older devices to the latest version of iOS.

It is complete in terms of capabilities GPS - navigation, as it has the ability to not only show us the map, but to set a route and guide us step-by-step how to get to our destination. It shows traffic, bus stops, metro stops, etc. and has voice guidance that can be adjusted. It presents the map in plain, hybrid and satellite and of course it is free. It gets its information from the well-known in the field of satellite navigation gps, Tom Tom.

2. Google Maps

The Google Maps is not unknown to us... on the contrary. It's an old app that started as a simple mapping app, just showing a map of an area we wanted and slowly evolved into a full gps navigation app.

Today it offers, in addition to complete and accurate maps, voice guidance for driving, hiking and cycling, transport directions, information, sightseeing for over 15,000 cities and towns, live traffic conditions, incident reports and rerouting to find the best route, detailed information on over 100.000.000 parts, Street View and interior images for restaurants, museums, etc.

As you can see it goes much further than the simple application of the maps of our device and offers as much as a full GPS and, as you know, it's completely free.

3. Sygic: GPS Navigation, Maps & POI, Route Directions

Another navigation app that is free, but offers many additional features with in-app purchases such as maps and navigation for Europe, Russiathe whole world, HUD (Head Up Display), Cockpit, Black Box, traffic cameras.

And it gets its information from Tom Tom's - high resolution - online maps, has constant updates and downloads the maps to your device for offline use. Internet (something that constantly needs the Google Maps).

Its big advantage over the two previous applications is that it does not need an Internet connection, but works like a normal GPS using the satellites and the maps stored on our device.

From there, it offers everything a normal navigation system with step-by-step voice guidance, millions of POI (Points of Interest), free upgrades, traffic cameras, etc.

4. iWay GPS Navigation

The iWay GPS Navigation is another navigation program offered for the price of 2,99€ in its full version with in-app purchase. It also has the ability to work without the need to connect to the Internet, since it downloads and saves the maps when we are connected to a network Wi-fi.

It takes its data from the Google Maps and Bing Maps and has by far the best display of all the others offering: full screen Street View 3D buildings and interior maps, 100 different quality voices for guidance, continuous live map updates, traffic cameras, 3D satellite view, step-by-step voice guidance, rerouting to avoid traffic or other incidents, integration with the music you're listening to so it doesn't interrupt, background navigation even when using other apps, linking to your contacts, sending your location to friends, navigation for car, walking, cycling and much more.

In short, a excellent Application.

5. Tom Tom

Could not be missing from our list and the famous Tom Tom, which we even mentioned as a database of other navigation applications. It is a top-of-the-line app, equivalent to the company's standalone devices used by millions of people around the world. It works online and offline (like any self-respecting navigation application) and that its maps and information are used by others for its applications (such as the Apple), I think it says it all.

It certainly offers everything that all the good ones offer Applications navigation that we have mentioned so as not to repeat them here, with additional help in navigation when driving in difficult areas where we need to be in specific lane so we can turn somewhere and not get off somewhere else.

Daily corrections are also made to the maps for changes made to the network, relying on the community of 20 million users Map Share. It always chooses the best and fastest route, at all times of the day, depending on the conditions. Multitasking capability to guide us even if we need to talk on the phone. And of course full integration with contacts, music, email, contacts, music, email, and more. iCloud and even in the Maps.

Many more offers that we can't cover here, but its only drawback is its cost, which reaches 50€ about for Greece and 70€ for Europe.

Finally

These are the most popular gps navigation apps for the iPhone, iPad and iPod even. Some excel in one area, others in another. But all are excellent and will meet our basic (and somewhat advanced) navigation requirements. It's up to each of us to decide which one does the job best. Besides, with two of them completely free and one costing the paltry sum of 3€ about I think we are fully covered. For those who need a little (or a lot) more, let them reach a little deeper into their pockets.
