Microsoft is planning a new version of Windows 10, exclusively for dual-screen and foldable devices. Officially it will be called Windows 10X and is also known by the codename "Santorini". Windows 10X is an ambitious attempt by Microsoft to redesign Windows 10 for devices that haven't even been released yet (flexible dual-screen tablets, and laptops like the Surface Neo).
Microsoft created the first Surface, a hybrid tablet and laptop more than seven years ago and over time it went from something weird and bad to a Windows flagship. declares that she is ready to try something different and bold again!
Surface Neo is Microsoft's new vision where the new Windows 10X will excel. When closed it looks like a large metal notebook on the outside but inside it hides two separate 9-inch screens that can unfold and turn into a 13-inch desktop. The Surface Neo fits perfectly with Microsoft's original concept 10 years ago and now it can be realized!
Like previous Surface devices, the Surface Neo is versatile and can be used in a variety of formats. There's also a smart Bluetooth keyboard that magnetically snaps onto the edges of the device and can be folded up and placed on the back in case you don't want to use it.

It can be used as a laptop book or tablet which we have never seen before in any other device. Microsoft is yet to reveal more about the technical specifications of the Surface Neo, but it is certain that it will be powered by Intel Lakefield processors. What makes the difference is that you can place the keyboard on any of the screens to use it in any way you want, use the screen as a trackpad either above or below the keyboard depending on where you want to place it. Depending on where it is placed windows will display an area called WonderBar that is located above the keyboard it is similar to Apple's Touch Bar however less restrictive and larger.
Microsoft does however have quite a bit of competition as Dell, HP, Lenovo and Asus are also working on dual display devices that will be compatible with Windows 10X. Google is also adding support for foldable devices to Android devices and Samsung has re-launched the Galaxy Fold.
