There are many times when while using an application on the Mac, it suddenly stops responding. This means that we don't have the ability to close it "normally", and as a result we have to force it to quit.
macOS (like Windows) gives us the ability to force a termination on an application that has suddenly stopped responding.
In everyday use, when we want to close an application, we do it either from the red indicator in the window, or via the shortcut ⌘ + Q from the keyboard. There is also the option to exit from the menu bar of the application by selecting "Exit".

To close an unresponsive application on the Mac, we have two options. Let's go through them in detail.
First way
Pressing the combination on the keyboard ⌘ + option (or Alt) + esc will bring up a window with the applications that are open. Select the application you want to close and click "Force Quit" at the bottom right.
Second way
Although it looks very similar to the way we showed you above, it may be more convenient for many people. We start by tapping on the apple in the upper left. We select the "Enforce Shutdown". We will see the same window appear with the open applications as in the above way. We select the application we want and click on "Force Shutdown".
We explained two ways in which we can force the termination of the applications that are not responsive on the Mac. If you have the slightest question, we are at your disposal.
